Dear friends,

During drying of wet powder ( contains solvent)with
hot air we are loosing ethylene dichloride solvent
with air.Even after condensation up to 0 deg c
significant amount of solvent carries away with air.
I want to scrubb solvent with suitable scrubibing
media in packed scrubbing tower.

Please advice me.

Thanks,

I don't know what the equilibrium position (relative humidity driving force if you like) is like in you system but is there no way that you could recycle at least some portion of your waste gas through the dryer again and increase the concentration of your solvent in the vapour phase and in this way make it worth you while to put in another unit - scrubber / spray absorber, something using a really non-volative slightly polar organic molecule (C10+).

there are also proprietary solutions for removing odorous compounds (VOC's) from vapour streams - but they are normally pretty pricey. A quick search on Ye Old Internet might yield something on these.

good luck
