Hello,

I want to define the section properties for beam188 elements. The section type is ASEC (arbitrary section).
When defining ASEC sections the user must first model the area and then use the command SCWRITE. A file with section mesh properties will be written. With SCREAD one can read in the section properties for a predefined section (SECTYPE).

If I use the GUI to do the tow steps it works just fine. If I use the command line it dose not work!!! The SCWRITE command only writes

0 , 0

to the file. If I use the GUI all informations are written. If I use the SCREAD (not the GUI) to read those Information then I get the Warning

4488 is not a recognized prep7 command

The number 4488 is the number of section cells an is the first number in the ASEC file, so it should be no problem.
If I use the GUI to read the ASEC informations, it works!

I can not imagine, where the problem with the
SCWRITE and SCREAD is!

Is there anybody who can help me? I have also searched on Google but I haven't found such similar problems.

Thank you very much!
Alex

I have solved my problem regarding scwrite and scread commands:

1) scwrite only works if the areas are meshed. This is not the case with the GUI method, where areas can be unmeshed.

2) scread works too, if at the end of the command the keyword mesh is used (this is not the default)
