I have looked through ACI 530 to see if it says my SDC D masonry has to be designed for amplified Em or regular E...nowhere it seems to say this...so is it just E=rho*Qe?

For my steel braced frames I am required to design the members for Em, so I thought masonry would require the same...

thanks

It is always E unless specific mention is made for Em

2000 IBC, in the masonry chapter, will bump up the loads into your shear wall for SDC-D. I don't know the exact location, but look to the seismic design section of that chapter, before it starts into each design category, there are some general requirements. I think its 1.5 or 2?

aha, thank you blake...sec 2106.5 in the IBC.

1.5 for working stress masonry design method.
