Seal Plan 11 for Taper Bore Seal Chamber

Hey guys,

It's me again. I have a question about seal chamber of OH1 pump type. The datasheet indicated that pump will be of "Plan 11" and the seal chamber is "taper bore". The vendor told me that Plan 11 is not offered for taper bore stuffing box hence they offered PLan 02/61. My question is, is it always has been this way that Plan 11 is not applicable for taper bore?

A typical taper bore seal chamber has no throat bushing. Thus, seal flush flow cannot be controlled and directed in same way it can with a standard seal chamber. The purpose of the taper bore is to set up internal circulation patterns to carry away the heat of the seal and move solids away from the seal faces. This makes the Plan 11 unnecessary.
