Forgive me for my lack of knowledge, but I am looking for a program, lisp or VB, that would search a directory of autocad files and return a list of all the blocks that are used in those files. Is this possible or does anyone know where I might be able to find a program/routine to do this? I am not familiar with lisp or vb, so creating one myself is not within my current timeframe. A free download for this would be ideal, but I have no idea if I something like this exists. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance
Pete

BCOUNT will count and list all the blocks in the current drawing but I am not aware of a free program that will do this for all drawings in a directory.

If you have the BATTMAN command, when you list a block in the pulldown, it will shown how many of that block is in the dwg.

Use Designdenter (ctrl+2). Browse to the folder and select the drawing you want. If you're looking for a specific block but don't know what drawing it is in, this is about the fastest way of doing it.

Sorry about my previous post, I should have read it closer. Yes you can "peek" into drawings and see what blocks they have but you have to know a little vb in acad (at least for the program I created).

Thanks for the posts. I found them very helpful. I never knew about the designcenter (ACAD 2000), but found it useful to browse drawings and find the blocks used without opening the drawings.
