Hi,
does anybody have an experience with installation of relief valve on the Acid Gas Preheater (in front of the second Claus reactor)? I would like to know if you find necessary to install it.
Thank you,
Jana

For your question I am not sure Porocel catalyst people are the best to contact. Typically, there are no relef valves in a Claus plant on the sulfur processing side as they would get plugged off. It is also unlikely that there is a relief valve on the heating side. Process equipment is usually designed for 50 psig but not registered since processing is below 15 psig.

Thank you for your reply.
I am searching for opinions. I normally do not design relief valves in Claus reheaters. But last time I had a customer who insisted on their instalation. That made me curious.
