Hi All,

This is one for you Teamcenter guru's !!

Is it possible to search the contents of a Teamcenter folder and it's sub-folders?

As a work section we use a single folder to hold links to standard parts, everything from spot weld tips to washers. This folder is maintained as a single reliable resource for users to find standard parts. The problem is that if a normal search is used for washer* it returns, unbelievably, 22,332 results. If there is a way of searching the folder (and sub-folders) we'll get a more manageable 20-30 results!!

I can filter the details window displaying but the filter doesn't include any sub-folders.

Any help is much appreciated.

Cheers.
Paul

Hi

Teamcenter doesn't care about folders. All data is just one big heap for Teamcenter.
Therefor there are no o.o.t.b Queries in Teamcenter to search within a specific folder (the exception would be the users Home Folder)
Easiest would be, to create an SQL query on the DB directly and make that available for the users in Teamcenter.

Thanks for the replies Iklo & NutAce

NutAce, unfortunately I'm not permitted to create any type of sql script.

Iklo, I'm not sure I understand your reply!!

My suggestion would be to create subfolders. For instance, we have a LIBRARY folder. Inside that folder there will be many others. SHCS, WASHERS, CYLINDERS, POWER CLAMPS, etc.... Inside the WASHER folder, we will have more folders like FLAT WASHERS, LOCK WASHERS, ETC... With the actual files inside the sub folders. Usually we have Family Part files in the subfolders which will allow you to select the exact part you want.

We have the same library in our native NX library so they get use to where to get the parts they need whether they are in Native or Team Center.

Also, it is also possible to do a search for the order strings (Tool_ID) attribute. So on line you can find the order string and if someone has designed it already, you might be able to find it.
