Section Designer: Moment-Curvature Error

Hi all,

I have been using SAP2000's section designer to generate moment-curvature for some columns, but keep running into an error: "Error Occured in Form MomentCurveGridForm. Please correct data and try again." The strange thing is that it only happens with some sections, and seems to be dependent on section size and applied axial load (P).

For example, here's one section that did work:

Caltrans Circle
diameter = 914
ring1 cover = 70
long. rebar: 16-35M
trans. rebar: 20M @ 150
core concrete: mander-confined(c)
outer/other concrete: mander-unconfined
*whatever material options that were available, I just left as default

And one that DIDN'T worK;
Caltrans Circle
diameter = 1220
ring1 cover = 70
long. rebar: 28-35M
trans. rebar: 20M @ 200
core concrete: mander-confined(c)
outer/other concrete: mander-unconfined

I've played around with a bunch of sections and the relation I keep getting is the section diameter. Also, sometimes you can initially display a moment-curvature diagram when P = 0, but as you increase P to a greater compressive load it just errors again.

I've already contacted CSI and am waiting for a reply. Here's just a point of discussion for everyone, to see whether anyone else has encountered the same problem, and if any bright minds can see offhand a physical reason for the problem (and not just a software bug).

Thanks

Hey all, I just got a reply from CSI and, well, it's a bug.

Thanks
