Section view format as letter and number (A-2) 1

Is there a way in Pro/E to create section views with the section lines labeled with a letter on one end and a number on the opposite end? If you add a section name as A-2 it creates "Section A-2-A-2." I have played around with the view label option but none of the standards fit that format.

Hi,

On the drafting sheet, I selected the desired section callout to change, right click - renamed & typed 'A-2' in the cue line. This seems to work as desired.

For me when I do that I get 'A-2' printed on both ends of the line, I want an 'A' on one end and a '2' on the other.

What standard are you referencing that has that section callout? I don't tink you can do it in Pro/E as the text at both ends of section line are using the same variable.

That is what I thought. My company names the sections after the drawing zone at which it is located, and then tags the section line in the manor I mentioned. It is not one of the main drafting standards (ANSI, ISO, DIN, etc.) but I know several large companies such as GE have historically used this convention. It actually is quite helpful on large assembly drawings with lots of section and detail views as it helps you quickly find the corresponding view. The view label also includes the originating zone, so a view in A-2 that came from B-3 would be View A-2 (B-3).

There is some functionality for zoneing that is in Pro/E. I have not made use of it, but it may be that you can do something like what you want. At my company one of the arrows for SECT A-A would have A and the other A (3D-2) where 3D is the zone and 2 is the sheet where the view is placed (I use the location of the SECT A-A as opposed to the view). The SECT A-A would have the location of the A (3D-2) reference i.e. SECT A-A (7B-2). Do a search of the help for zone.

To place the location on the section line, do you have to manually add a note rather than using the "show section lines on parent drawing"? I am able to use zone parameters in notes, but you can't put the parameters into section names.

Just create a separate note with the zone parameter and place it next to the section names using offset placement. I just verified that this will work in WF3.
