Hi,

Is it possible to get a section view over the sketch plane when sketching? Usefull when making a sketch inside a part.

Michel

I use NX5.

Yes, it doesn't seem to be a problem at all. If your intentions are to sketch on a planar face of an existing body, just create your 'dynamic' section referencing the same planar face. If the sketch is being created on a Datum Plane, you can select the Datum as the plane of the Section as well. And you can even toggle the Section ON and OFF while inside the Sketcher task.

Anyway, give it try and see if it behaves as you wish that it would.

To an Engineer, the glass is twice as big as it needs to be.

You can even anchor off or dimension to elements of the section in the sketch so that relationships to whatever solid your are sectioned through will be maintained. However as part of doing so you should use an associative section, which will work fine for geometry inside the part with the sketch. In the context of an assembly the oft asked question is that associative sections don't work for parts other than the work part, so if you wanted to maintain those relationships you probably need to use some wave linked geometry.
