Is it possible to display a screw in a section view as a solid body?

Hi JJL,

You should use the function for this(For NX5)

Section Components or Solid Bodies in View

TIP on this, if you have permissions to change your screw, I would suggest to add this Attribute to it:
SECTION COMPONENT=NO

It will be now ass a default that this screw will not be Sectioned.
Offcourse you can multiply this to all you Standard parts if you have the need.

Grtz,

Best regards,

Pascal,

NX5.04+TC2007 (GM Toolkit) / NX7.5 native

PascalDW thank you very much, i wasnt familiar with this function.

Your TIP on SECTION COMPONENT=NO, i cannot find where to add it. I tried adding it to "Solid body properties" and "Displayed Part Properties, Attributes tab" but in my drawings the screw is still sectioned.

You need to add it as a part attribute to the screw file.

If you add it as a Part Attribute to the original piece part file, it will effect the display wherever it is used. However, if you only wish to effect whether a Component is sectioned in this ONE Assembly only, then the recommended approach is to use the 'Section in View' function found on the Drafting Edit toolbar. This will allow you to select any component and control whether it appears sectioned or non-sectioned on a Section View by Section View basis.

looslib, i still cant find where to add it as a part attribute :)

JohnRBaker, thanks for the info

To add a Part Attribute to a Part file, go to...

File -> Properties...

...and select the Tab titled 'Attributes'. Now create your Attribute as described in the first reply above.

Ok, thats exacly what i did and mentioned it in my second post to this thread. I better check it again.

Now you have to do this BEFORE you add your screw to your drawing assembly. Other wise you will need to mannually add this as an Object Attribute to the Screw Component itself in the context of the Drawing Assembly.
