sections not working on idw

we are trying to take section from a boat but most of them dont work. for example when i try to section along the centre line it looks like its going to do it but when i press enter the section line dissapears and no new view is added. the model includes most of the boat components comprising of 620+ parts and sub assemblys. it is a big file and can take 5 minutes to load, could that be the problem?

Inventor does not use the enter key...

Create the section then click to place th section view on the sheet. then right click and Done.

That is what i ment but it doesnt create the section when you click done. also when you middle button pan during the command it loeses the section. ive had some sucess putting the section lines in different places and modifying them but some just wont work...

I have never used Inventor but in some modelling programs if you have mirrored about the centre line and have certain default setting there is nothing there, it is in effect just a dead space, this may be the case here, does it work slightly off centre?

Just another thought do you have cutting planes set or whatever they are called in inventor?
