Seismic Behavior of Ground Floor Slabs

How do Ground floor slabs that are put on top of soil behave seismically with respect to the building frame? Note second floor slabs are connected to beams, but ground floor slabs are not connected to any ground beam but are free floating against the soil. How does it behave during lateral shaking?
