Does anyone know how similar in content are the seismic provisions are for Canada vs. U.S.A? Mainly the National Building Code of Canada 2005 vs the UBC or IBC.
A question for practicing engineers: how much more additional time do you feel you spend on designing buildings in a seismic active region compared to a non active region where say wind is usually the only governing lateral load? I am junior engineer, and I just feel that the need to do seismic design and all the various different code and ductility requirements, seems to take quite a bit more time (perhaps it's because my relatively limited experience) However, I quite enjoy doing it.
