Does anyone know how does the Code addresses resonance of seismic against buildings?

I understand that ground motion is complex but theoretically you dont want the seismic period to match the building natural period. How do we check that or how does the code address that? Specially that actually different seismic events can affect the building through different periods so it would be extremely difficult that any of these periods to not match the building time period.

For example 10 seismic events can have different of time period of 0.5s, 0.6s.........up to 2s so surely that can trigger a resonance impact.

There very limited information in the code to allow us understand how this is mitigated.

I have the same question with regards Wind but gave seismic as an example.

Hi Mahmoud,

Which code will you be needing to use? Eurocode is quite thorough in this regard, and is relatively simple to follow. I have undertaken seismic design checks in the UK (Which is rare) to EC8. As you say this is linked to the ground conditions and spectra response.
