Hi,

Has anyone had experience on how to model the torsional eccentricity using Spacegass?
I'm analyzing a 9 stories concrete structures with core, columns and flat slab in PNG, where seismic is quite dominant.

Spacegass is quite good for analysis, however I have not used it for seismic analysis and their manual indicate that their dynamic & spectral analysis do not consider the additional accidental eccentricity (torsional eccentricity).

Please advise and thank you

Regards,
Eric

Call the program developer, or go to the distributor's website. This question should be adequately addressed in the Q & As.

Try to add a diaphragm load at each floor providing eccentricity 5% - 10%

Hi henadubaieng,

Have you done this yourself?
Could you please advise how to do it?

Cheers,
Eric

Add a constraint to the diaphragm (master/slave) then it will act as a rigid body. Apply your eccentric load to a dummy node in the right location.
