Dear all,
I am new in seal engineering areas. I want to purchase an API-610 centrifugal pump and want to select the appropriate seal piping plan from the standard plans of API-682.
Given specific liquid characteristics (liquid type, vapor pressure, temperature, SG, etc.), how can we select a piping plan suitable for our application.
Thanks for your help in advance.

API has given general guideline for providing flushing in different conditions.

You will have to evaluate and decide which API Plan is best suited for your requirement.

My choices are as bellow

1. I prefer API PLAN 13 over PLAN 11.
In case of Plan 11 flushing liquid impinges on the seal face, causing erosion whereas in Plan 13 liquid moves away from seal face.

2.I prefer Plan 23 over Plan 21.
In case of Plan 23 only soaked heat plus heat added by the seal is required to be remove whereas in Plan 21 product needs to be cooled from pumping temperature to desired temperature.
Because of this heat exchanger size in Plan 21 becomes bigger than Plan 23.

3. I do not like Plan 12, 22, 31 and 41. API also says that these plans are not proven for 3 tears.

4. In double seal I prefer only PLAN 53 C. You yourself can evaluate and find out the reasons, why API Plan 53 C is the best. The explanation will need lot of space.
