Selecting tangent surfaces from solid 1

Hello CATIA Gurus!!!

Let me explain my question.

I created a tool that will be used to lay-up carbon.
The actual contact area between the tool and the carbon plies needs a higher surface finish tolerance. In FT&A we use a colour code system to define surface finish tolerances. This contact area is continuous in tangency and simply requires a different colour. I want to avoid selecting individual solid surfaces because this is time consuming.

Is there an easy way to select solid surfaces that are continuous in tangency so I can change the colour? I looked under User Selection Filter tool bar but nothing there to help me.

If anyone knows a good trick, please let all of us know.

Peter,
If you are splitting or sewing a solid you could use the Federation option under the Join command during creation of this top surface. There is a Federation option for selecting tangent surface data. This would allow a 1 pick option to change color at a later process.

One possibility is to extract the tangent surfaces, and assign a color to the extract - this, however, does not change the color of the solid surfaces, only the color of the additional extracted surfaces. You can find this in the Generative Shape Design workbench --> Operations toolbar --> Boundary --> Extract (or multiple extract) and select 'tangent continuity'.

I do not know how to only select multiple tangent surfaces, though, for changing their properties. I'm also interested to hear how that can be done.
