Here we go again. I have an old Turrett Lathe that needs to go to the Czech Republic (400v 50hz). There are three motors on it. two of the motors are 50/60hz. The main motor (7.5hp) is only 60hz. The voltage is 220. It is a two speed motor with gear shifting also. I could do the whole Freq. Drive with multistep speeds references but it would be easier to just step the transformer I have for it down to 184v. and hope to call it good. Any comfirmations on this would be appreciated.

You will lose torque and HP, is the motor over sized for the task?

Oops, sorry, you will lose SPEED and HP, torque would be OK.

Yeah the speed thing isn't a problem. The hp may give some issues. It all depends on how big the parts they are going to run on it. I will adjust the overloads and they may have to run the bigger parts a little slower, which it will anyway. Thanks for the help. We have been sending machines all around the world now and retrofitting them is very machine specific. Some need VFDs and some I can change the motors and contactors and relays. I kind of roll the dice a little because I don't really have a way to test them on 50hz.

Maybe you should invest in something. 7-1/2 HP is not that big, I for one would want to know for sure it is going to work right. Unless you are angling for a trip to the Czech Republic.

Actiually, not a bad scam...!
