Hello everyone,
I have the folloving problem. I need to instal a holder for a sensor on the aluminium body of a combustion engine. The initial idea was to simply screw the holder, made out of basic 2mm thick sheet metal, to the engine body. The problem is that once the motor starts the motor body heats up and with it the holder. This might damage sensor.

The sensor ambient temperature range is up to +70C and the holder is about 5cm long. The sensor is screwed to the holder. I do not know the temperature to which the engine body heats up.

Any suggestions on how to isolate the sensor? Or what material to use to make the holder from?

Thank you in advance.

Since you want thermal isolation, there are lots of possibilities:
> longer metal tang to increase heat transfer
> less thermally conductive metal
> less thermally conductive other material
> thermal insulation
