SENSOR TO READ ROTATIONAL SPEED OF AXIAL TURBINE IMPELLER IN FLOW METER

Not sure if this is in the right place. I am trying to locate a sensor that will read rotational speed of an axial turbine wheel located in a hydraulic flow meter. I have the capability to design and have the housing made. Pressure and temperature sensors are easy to get. I have taken an existing flow meter apart, the turbine wheel is made from a ferrous metal. The sensor is not isolated from the pressure of the oil flowing through the turbine (250-350 bar) sealing is by way of a copper washer and an o-ring. The sensor I am assuming is a hall effect sensor.

Does anyone out there know where I would get such a sensor?

off the top of my head no I don't. Turbine meters normally work on the basis of pulses, but whether these are based on direct amplified pulses from the rotor or manufactured via some other signal I don't know - you would have to talk to the vendor who made the one you took apart.

See if one part of the rotor is essentially a magnet

Can't understand why you're trying to do this yourself - can't you buy a ready made functioning meter?

If you took a meter apart, did it not have a sensor already attached??

There's a lot here which doesn't seem to make sense
