I would like to create a motion envelope in Unigraphics in a similar way that I have done it in Proe. Is something like it possible?
Is it possible to create a moving crank mechanism by sequencing and how?

Yes, NX has had a Sequencing function for some time which is part of Assembly Modeling where you can define movements, either 'free' or constrainded based on Mating Conditions/Assembly Constraints. Once a motion sequence is defined, starting with UGS NX 5, we now offer an optional tool that allows you to create a swept volume of any moving component in the assembly as it moves through it's motion sequence. This swept volume, or 'Motion Envelope', can be used to do interference studies, clearance anlysis or just to determine how much room is needed to package a mechanism.

I am unfortunately using NX 3...how do you define the motion within the mating conditions???I was not able to do that...i chose insert motion, picked the crank...move object and nothing happend...

OK, if you're going to ask the software to 'honor' the Mating Conditions, then you will need to allow at least something to MOVE. A fully constrainted assembly, by definition, CAN'T move. So for example, if you have say a four-bar link, all of the 'pivot' points must be free to rotate. Or a slider-crank, then in addition to the pivot points of the crank, the slider much also be allowed to move back and forth.

its quite obvious and I am not so dumb...i have the crank constrained by just two conditions - aligned axis, aligned perpendicular plane...

ok, i have managed to do that...the problem is now, can you do it with the section on???

Yes you can do it with the section on, including in NX-3

i dont know...when i have a section on and switch to sequencing, it redraw the model and without the section...when i jump back to modeling, the section is back on...
