Hello

I'm tying to get the residual stress in a welded structure. I'm making a sequentially coupled thermal stress analysis: I use the temperature history of the heat transfert analysis as a predefined field in the stress analysis. I have exaclty the same mesh in the two analysis.

I get a warning :

"The number of temperature points 1 for beam or shell section found on the output database is smaller than in the current model. This number must match between models."

I think it could explain the reason why I get wrong results, but I don't understand the meaning of this error...

Could somebody help me?

Thanks !!

I think the defualt number of section points through a shell element is 5. Make sure your thermal analysis has the same number.

Thank you for your answer Corus. Where can I find this number?
I forgot to underline that I'm working in 3D.

in fact this error occurs when I use a hard-contact between the two sheets I want to weld ( this hard contact is necessary in order to prevent one sheet from penetrating the other during the weld pass).

Without this hard contact there is no problem...

Does somebody explain that?

Thank you
