Setting RPM on electric Motor

Hey everyone,
I'm looking for a closed-loop motor, where I can set the RPM and the motor works out how to reach the set point.
I considered using a standard DC motor with a hall effect sensor as feedback, but I'm certain that there must be an off-the-shelf unit with the same functionality.
Parameters:
RPM: 0.1 - 300
Working Voltage 12V.

I'm just looking for, if possible, the name of the type of product that would suit my requests.
Any suggestions will be appreciated.

A 3000:1 turndown looks really quite high.

What is this driving as torgue may not be the same for all rpm?

But what about a washing machine motor or a variable speed drill motor?

What is the load?
How accurate must the speed regulation be?
Why?

0.1 RPM?
You got to be kidding.
Unless you have a very fast motor and a high ratio gear box, expect severe cogging at 6 Minutes per turn.
If this is a metering application, consider a solenoid.

First off, you cannot set the RPM on the motor itself, but you can use an electronic speed CONTROLLER for a motor and have the speed controller determine the RPM. So before you go there, you need to establish the other important criteria like how much torque you need, how accurate it must be, available power sources, environmental issues, maintenance issues and budget. Without at LEAST that info, you are just flailing around blindly.
