Setting the merging dist. in healing command

Hey all!
I was wondering if there was a way to set the default merging distance and distance objective setting in the 'Healing' command to something other then .001?
I know we can change it manually when using it but was wondering if I can just set it once in options or elsewhere and not have to mess with it as much. For what we use it for, our tol. is a bit more slack.

tools->Options->Shape->Generative Shape Design->General->Inputs Parameter->Merging Distance

This will also affect Join and other commands so may not be ideal
