Hi,

This is the last set of questions for now :)

I have a completely working model that I developed in Standard. Now I want to set-up the same model in Explicit. The reason being that I have shear fractures modeled as simple sliding contacts (in Abaqus Standard). I want to use Explicit to actually grow the contacts ('fractures') by using some reasonable criterion (e.g., element deletion) . I have never used Explicit before but I know it can do what I want to do.

So my questions are

1. Is there an easy way to convert an input file set-up for analysis in Abaqus Standard for analysis in Explicit ?

2. Where may I find good tutorial/examples for using CAE to set up models in Explicit ? How to set-up mass-scaling, element deletion criterion etc., ?

Can somebody in the forum, please help.

Thanks so much
Rajesh

It depends widely on what options you have used....

But a basic conversion only requires changing the line that starts with
*Static
to
*Dynamic,Explicit
and also the numbers on the following line will have to be updated.

The best examples are in the Abaqus documentation... Just do a search for "mass scaling", etc...
