Hi does anyone have experience cutting corian on a laser.I am the operator on a amada lc 2415 aII 2000 watt pulsar laser. I was asked a while ago to see if i could cut some corian for my company on a rush job i gave it a try it was a failure i fried a lens and stopped there and they subbed it out to a waterjet place..The corian is 1/2 inch i should be able to cut it if some of the hobby type lasers cut it all the time. Any help would be appreciated thank you.

I have never seen our shop cut it, but I searched youtube for "Corian Cutting Laser Machine" and found a video of a Kern laser system with a 400 watt Coherent Diamond E-Series sealed CO2 which may give you some ideas.

"Hobby" machines typically do not cut it... that's best left for CNC operations. The hobby machines are left to do the engrqaving. It can be done with the low powers of hobby machines, but it can be quite messy and slow. I used to own a 60W Chinese unit and a 60W ULS... those are long gone and now I use an 80W Trotec. For cutting Corian, I use my CAMaster CNC for shape, then the Trotec for final engraving.
