Hi All,
I have a couple of drafting questions that I hope to research and answer on my own through the catia documents but I thought i might throw them out there anyways.
1. Is there a way to create dimensions with "doglegs" so as to prevent overcrowding of dimensions when the features you are dimensioning are close together?
2. In UG drafting you can dimension features using "feature parameter" options which allows you to dimension, foe example, a counterbored hole in essentially a couple of picks. It gives hole diameter, c/bore dia and depth in one concise piece of text thus reducing the number of cross sections you need to create. Does anything similar exist in catia?
3. Can you create ordinate dimensions similar to the type you can create in UG with a common zero and each point having its own dimension? Catia has coordinate dimensions but they seeem to clutter up my drawings to much(they appear to be text with a leader). Also the coordinates are all based from the absolute zero( I assume) and sometimes you want them based from another point. Stacked dimensions are a close work around but they tend to clutter up as well and the fact I can't create "doglegs" (see #1) only makes the problem worse. Does any one have any tips?
4. How (or where) do you set defaults for dimension orientation ie, vertical/horizontal? I find that I have to change the properties for each individual dimension to achieve this so there must be a way to modify.
A big thanks in advance to all who respond.
p.s. I hope ,as I gain more catia experience, I can eventually make some contributions in the form of help as so many of you have made to me and others.
