SF6 inductive voltage transformers (IVTs) are much less prone to explosion if compared to oil-insulated capacitive voltage transformers (CVTs).
However, for sake of safety, we now specify only silicon rubber for outer insulation: the risk for working personnel is then considerably reduced even with conventional CVTs. Thus we foresee IVTs only on cable lines and for energy metering purposes.
