Dear Experts,

we are using presently fcaw wire(E71T1C) with SFA5.20 and have 3 to 4 suppliers.

Today one enquiry came from one supplier,E71T1-C,with SFA5.36.All my WPS is with SFA5.20,and have sufficient suppliers also to provide consumable with SFA5.20.

Can i reject supplier,as it is not as per SFA5.20?

You can reject if you wish....if it isn't what you ordered. However SFA 5.20 and 5.29 are being replaced by 5.36....meaning in a few years you will not be able to get 5.20. Adapt now or later....up to you. Why not revise the WPS to state SFA5.20 has been replaced by 5.36?

Just to add to Davids comments

"One new filler metal specification was added: SFA-5.36, Carbon and Low-Alloy Steel Electrodes for Flux Cored Arc Welding and Metal Cored Electrodes for Gas Metal Arc Welding. This standard will be replacing SFA 5.20 and 5.29, and it contains an entirely new and more informative system for assigning the AWS classifications. Neither SFA-5.20 nor SFA-5.29 will be withdrawn for five years since many fabricators and suppliers have materials made to those specifications in stock and to give the industry an opportunity to become familiar with the new classification system and incorporate them into existing WPSs. Meanwhile, electrode manufacturers will identify their products with both classification systems so that you can get used to the new classification system."

Most cumbersome standard ever.
