When Appendix HH refers to Appendix A for the leak testing, does it mean U tube bundle expansion joints are also covered under this Appendix? If HH-1(b) and HH-1(c) are required, then Qualification test is not needed.I assume in a U tube bundle, a single tube is joined to the tubesheet at both the ends and that is the reason shear load testis not a true measurement of joint efficiency. However if an expanded joint is proven with a pull out test, our confidence level increases. fr values may not be validated under test or no test conditions empirically; however, the shear load testing is a true confidence-boosting strength test prior to a leak test. Mostly duplex tubes are welded to tubesheets. In this case, is there any value of performing shear load testing to qualify tube expansion procedure for a U tube bundle expanded tube to tubesheet joint?
