Hello,

I am trying to determine the shear modulus of a wood frame shear wall.
--> combination of plywood, chords and nails.
If anyone here has useful references (international building code or reference) without extended use of formulas I would appreciate if you'd post them. My problem is that I don't know the amount and size of the nails that were used.

NDS has a publication titled "Special Design Provisions for Wind and Seismic".... SDPWS for short. It goes through a formula for including fastener slip in the shear deformation by coming up with an "apparently shear stiffness" concept.

However, deformation of the Chords and the hold downs is considered separately.

Regardless, that publication is probably the best place for you to start.
