Shear wall basics with a steel moment frame

Have a question to make sure I am understanding the shearwall concept correctly.

Attached a pdf to show my example. Basically, Shearwall line A is mostly windows & openings. Approximate trib in flexible scenario is 23ft.

I calculate that my shearforce to line A is 4,784lb (1.0W) from wind.

I want to use (2) moment frames in line A, lets say one moment frame is 18'-10", the other is 9'-0".

I'd have to size the longer moment frame for 3,237lb (1.0W) lateral wind load and the shorter moment frame for 1,547lb (1.0W) lateral wind load.

If I size my moment frames to meet drift limits, my Line A is OK? ASD Design.

Main questions are: 1) is this correct way to look at line A? 2) seismic is similar concept but other factors are introduced (overstrength etc.)? 3) There are interior walls in this example, but it is a crawlspace. Can I tie interior shearwalls into the crawlspace beam lines?

Thanks ahead of time and any resources & examples are appreciated to expand my knowledge.

Cheers

In your scenario, with two moment frames of varying sizes in the same line, you would need to consider stiffness of the frames to determine the appropriate loading to each frame. This is an iterative process unless you use software.

Also please note that shear wall and moment frames are two different things, shear walls are just that... walls that are sheathed for shear resistance, moment frames are a beam and column system with fixed connections.

You should have a project manager/mentor working with you on this who should provide proper training for these concepts.
