Hi, guys.

I'm trying to create two sheet metal elbows, 90-deg and 45-deg. Basically, the part will be a cover for an elbow, with the material being slit at the narrow radius (throat?) of the elbow. Is there any way to design this and flatten it? I'm been pulling my hair out (what little is left) for weeks now.

We do these kinds of covers regularly, and it would be nice for the software to handle the pattern creation. If necessary, we could change our wrap design to match what the software could do.

Thanks in advance for any help.

You will not be able to flatten an elbow in SW. To manufacture such a part in real life, would involve stretching & thinning of material & SW does not have the ability to do that.

[lol] Everyone has a photographic memory. Some just don't have film. [lol]

You could maby make the elbow from segments? If you have seen air ducts of sizes above some Ø200 you know what i mean. (havent tried it myself, just a tip for you to work on)

Best of luck !

Well, now i tried it, it works all right, post your email adress, and I will send you my result.

have not flattned it, but it consists of circular segments, so it should be no problem to make at the workshop.

Please do!
