Hello,
I am designing a temporary shoring for a retaining wall along the approaches of a bridge. Temporary sheeting with struts is provided out side the retaining wall.2 struts are provided at 1ft and 5ft below ground elevation. The contractor does not support sheeting on the embankment side. Instead he suggested the sheeting or HP pile to support the strut. My question is whether passive pressure ( 3 times b) be developed without full embedment in soil?
Could any one provide any guidance to proceed me further?
Thanks
