Hi all.

In an aluminium geodesic dome, after erecting the last ring of the dome we have only 80mm gap between the tank shell and the edge of the bottom node of the last ring. we couldn't even fix the top node of the last ring. We have erected this dome inside a 30 m dia tank and we have planned to lift the dome using grip hoists.

Now the question is,
1. whether this gap is sufficient to lift the dome to the tank's height? (tank height = 20 m)
2. If not, what will be the alternate to lift this dome?

The dome is erected on a steel floating roof.

Kindly share your thoughts.

The dome vendor is the best one to give you this information. Sometimes the outer nodes have temporary lower half plates to give you additional clearance. The tank should be checked for roundness and plumbness, contact the dome vendor if there are major deviations.
