Hi all.. have some questions regarding MONO TUBE shock absorbers

1. these dampers have different damping rates in compression and rebound (& at low and high speeds).. But what is the need for these different rates?

2. how these different damping rates (compression and rebound, low and high speed) are achieved in a mono tube damper?

1) There are different requirements for ride as opposed to handling for shock absorbers. For ride, and impact harshness, it is important to let the wheel rise as rapidly as possible when it hits a bump. Of necessity this means that more damping must be done on the rebound stroke than on the jounce stroke. Even race cars use more damping in rebound, when you consider spring forces perhaps it is obvious why.
