I have a difficult shoring issue (deep, close to residences, etc.) and would like a comparison of different options. We usually don't dictate shoring and won't here either, as it is means and methods, but if we have a preferred system, maybe we can steer the contractor toward it.
If there a table that has different shoring options with drawbacks for each? Noise, limited depths, etc.

You need to determine if the excavation is so close to the existing buildings that they need to be underpinned. If the buildings are close, you may need to underpin or, if not possible, design a very stiff sheeting wall. Steel sheet piling is not necessarily stiff, are considered flexible, and may shake the buildings too much during installation. You may need a drilled-in, extra stiff, sheeting wall. An extra stiff, drilled-in sheeting wall could be heavy soldier beams at closer than normal spacing with tiebacks or braces as required. You really should give some sketches and indication of the excavation depth, the offset to the buildings, and the the soils, rock, and ground water.
