Here is a link to an excellent resource, I just found, related to information on the shot peening of gears and plenty of other useful information.
Just type 'gears' into the search and there's over 100 articles in PDF to download.
Most of the articles are free to download.

An excellent site. I searched a variety of topics and metallurgy's and got lots of hits each time.

I also agree that the shotpeener website is an excellent resource. Probably one of the best technical websites for acquiring free information that is not available anywhere else.
 
Where have you been, that site has been referenced many times in the past.

Another very good source of information for shot/laser peening is the Metal Improvement Company. Go to this page and in the upper right hand corner you can get their Applications Guide. Their download section also has some good information.
