Dear Sirs:

We are currently dealing with sprinkler systems in shopping center stores.
I have doubts if sprinklers are required in the showcases with glass facing to the shopping corridor.
Usually these spaces (don't know the exact word in english) are from ceiling to floor, sometimes open to the inside of the store, but others they are closed.

In the case they are closed my interpretation from NFPA 13 is that it is required to have sprinkers inside. I assume that 8.1.1 (7)ed 2010 exemption does not apply.

Am I correct?

Thanks

I would say if it is part of the store itself and say not a stand alone cabinet , yes sprinkle it

If it is say a display case in the mall are itself, say in a wall , no

May be case by case

Figure there are lights and other electrical

They usually are part of the store, being changed only when remodelling or changing owner.

They also have lights inside as you said.

I confirm they require sprinklers.

There are some cases that have horizontal shelves throughout all its area in which it is doubtful the effectiveness of only one sprinkler on top of the top shelf.

Thanks for your response

regards
