I've looked everywhere and cannot find where to put the fillet weld throat dimension on the symbol. I have a bevel groove weld then a filled weld over it. Any help would be appreciated.
You will need to determine the leg dimension corresponding to the throat dimension you need and specify the leg dimension on the weld symbol. The leg dimensions are easier for the welder and inspector to work with.
Agree with RichardH. Standard practice is to show the weld leg length instead of the effective throat. For the typical equal leg weld, the effective throat is 0.707 times the leg length.
