Does anyone have any experience with shrinkwrap module?
We are thinking about purchasing this. We have a demo now, from using this module I can not see any benefits to using it. If you create a new part with the shrinkwrap feature, you still have to type in all the parameters again, if the assembly you are shrinkwraping has family table members, you have to shrinkwrap each one ( I think).
Could you please give me your input.

The shrinkwrap (SW) feature is part of the Basic Package, and I beleive part of the Advanced Assembly Extension (AAX). So you get more than just shrinkwrap with AAX.

I use it often to save time and memory, since large assemblies can be created as shrinkwraps. Dont worry about parameters and such, since in most cases, SW are used to represent a complex model without retreiving the models in session.

Hi Tofflemire, Shrinkwraps are includsed as per 3dlogix. Shrinkwraps are excellent if you hand off ( to a customer, supplier ) a light version of your assemlby. They can be dependant or independant ( dependant will update with the models ). I also like to use these for some of our large assemlbies ( 50000+ components ). I can make a shrinkwrap then use it to simplify my top level assemblies. Shrinkwraps are a communication tool for me, not the real deal. We put a Part_Type parameter "=NUL" for shrinkwraps so they are never included on any of our BOM reports. We typically request that a shrinkwrap be created for any large assemlby. We use VisVIEW for visualization, so translations are simplified with shrinkwraps. We use huge assemlby shrinkwraps for presentations, proposals and pretty pictures. Does this help? gimme a star!

Thanks,

To 3dlogix and Helpmewithintralink, these are things that I did not think about.
