Siemens G120D Power module blown up

Dear team

i am using G120D(6SL3525=0PE25-5AA1) power module with CU240D(6SL3544-0FA20-1PA0) while running condition power module blown up, please let me know the reason of power module faulty and what are protection in power module.do i need to pt any exxtra protection to protect power module.

"Blown up" is far to vague to be of much use. Do you know exactly what the failure mode was? That will make a difference in what you should look for and what you can do about it.

One thing about that particular drive however is that it is a slightly different technology than most, in that it has what is called a Fundamental Front End (FFE) that allows regenerative energy to be put back into the line source when stopping the motor. That is a fine feature, but the one thing I learned about it when at Siemens, which they do a wholly inadequate job of explaining to users, is that it can ONLY work with a low impedance power source. So that makes it essentially inappropriate for operation from a local or backup generator system where the source impedance may be 20% or so, and doing so may cause damage to the drive because it is then INCAPABLE of handling any regen energy in any other more conventional way. If that is the case for you, that may be a place to start.

Also consider asking some of the age old questions for more clues:

- Did this ever work? If so, how old is it?
- did it just wear out from long life use?
- is this a new application and it 'blew up' on first power up?
- what 'blew up?'
- did you ohm from dc bus to each output> is it an output IGBT or two that blew?
- did this machine get moved from one place to another (different power source)?
- do you have the requisite 3% or less input transformer or <3% source impedance if no transformer?
- did you check the motor cable for possible intermittent short?
