Hello. MY question is regarding profibus DP on siemens plc. this is my first time with siemens. i have done a few projects with AB in the past. This particular project has the distributed safety software besides the step-7 software. The code is pretty much done and has been tested on other tools in the past. So my question is after I download the code into the Siemens PLC, is there any bit that I need to turn on for the profibus to come to life? For example, for the decivenet on AB PLC rack to run, the Commandregister.run bit has to be turned on right?? is there anything similar for the profibus??

No, Profibus is more akin to ControlNet than DeviceNet.

The Profibus network is set up from the hardware configuration screens and will run automatically when the PLC is started.

There are helpful diagnostic blocks for S7 that will check the network and nodes are present.
