sight gauge oil level switch

I am looking for a sensor to mount on a vented oil level sight gauge so that I may visually see the oil level and sense when it goes low (and maybe another one for high). Sensor could be a proximity type or an optical type. Most level switches are designed to be in a fixed location, and you can't see the oil level. Lube Devices has the sight gauges, and many others make float switches. Due to space problems, most float switches will not work. I'd love a sensor that just straps onto the existing sight gauge, but I am willing to replace it if necessary.

Why not just check the sight gauge say 3 times a day???

There are many devices that can accomplish this. Float detectors, ultrasound, maybe more.

(There are also derivatives that include a valve to automatically top up the oil level from a drum.)
They're probably both more bulky than you would like.

Dito on the Murphy. I have used the L129 several times. You can set the float fine enough to trip due to thermal expansion.
