SIL loop verification

HI

how to do SIL verification of an existing loop .. I have one case, one ESDV has one SOV. how to confirm if it actually needs one SOV or more than one (Dual SOV). what are the steps of doing this verification and what dominates the choice/decision? any reference I can use. Your inputs please from experience.

May refer to ISA-84, Safety Instrumented System (SIS), and perform a SIS evaluation for existing system with a risk analysis and to verify if existing independent protection layer (IPL) is sufficient or how many additional IPL may be required.
