Silicon Carbide rods for DIY kiln 1

I'm planning on building a small home kiln for metalwork/metalclay. I'm investigating the use of Silicon Carbide rods, instead of the standard resistance coil. Does anyone have links to DIY information for SiC rods and/or wiring information?
