Silo/hopper support platform pinned or fixed connection

Always confused, when should change the joint of the platform beam to support the silo or hopper to pinned or fixed, does it matter in load calculation?

Silos are usually supported on a flat surface. Hoppers on the left and silos on the right are shown below. Whether your beams are pinned or fixed, the loads do not change. In either case, lateral loads must be considered (wind and seismic).
