keep in mind I am just learning solidworks... so sorry for the begginer question...

when mating parts in assembly... I add the parts to the assembly area but sometimes the parts are not in the right direction and when I go to mate them (for instance a cylinder in a hole with an oring on one side) it has the oring on the wrong side and it fits in the hole right but is backwards so the oring is on the wrong side...

I have been right clicking on the part and moving with the triad to position it right and then mating is ok... but wondered if there is an easy way to make the part flip around during the mating sequence... thanks!

There is an Align mate when you make the mate. If you click that it will reverse the alignment. That should fix your issue.

If you are talking about the location when you drop it into the space, then you can use the rotate and move command to rotate or move your part to the proper location then start the mate process.

Hope that helps,

USAeng,

Since you are new to SWX perhaps you have not taken full advantage of the EXCELLENT tutorials in SWX. They will dramatically shorten your learning curve.
