Simple Wide Angle Projector

I'm looking to build a $100 white light projector to project a pattern of lines. The final image at an object distance of 5 feet must be at least 44" x 30". The image should be close to being in focus and the object format is TBD. The off-the- shelf projection lenses are too expensive and the focal lengths are too long anyway. My light source is a 250W incandescent bulb.

Yes, it does have to be white light, or at least in the visible spectrum. Laser light is not allowed, but thanks for the link.
